Isles of Scilly Museum and Cultural Centre

We built a website for the Isles of Scilly Museum & Cultural Centre that pulls its box office listings straight into its own brand, and supported its events with posters and banners, ahead of the new museum opening in 2027.

Every show on the islands, in the museum’s own style.

The Isles of Scilly Museum & Cultural Centre is transforming the Grade II listed Town Hall on St Mary’s into a new museum, arts venue and island hall. While the building takes shape, we built a website that keeps islanders and visitors connected to its events, collections and projects, with every show presented in the museum’s own style.

The challenge

With the new building not due to open until 2027, the website is the museum’s front door. It has to sell tickets for shows across the islands, share the collections and community projects, and keep supporters engaged through a major redevelopment. Standard box office listings look like someone else’s website, which isn’t the impression a cultural centre wants to give. [Add a line in the client’s own words about what wasn’t working before.]

What we did

Why: For a cultural venue, the moment someone decides to book is the moment the brand matters most. We wanted every event to feel like part of the museum, not a jump to a generic ticketing page.

How: We built a bespoke system that pulls shows through from the box office [Spektrix?] and displays them in the museum’s own visual style, so What’s On is as engaging as the rest of the site. Alongside it, the website showcases the museum’s themes, from archaeology and maritime heritage to island life and nature, and its community projects.

When: We built it on WordPress so the team can manage news, projects and pages themselves, while listings update automatically from the box office. Off screen, we’ve designed posters and banners that carry the same look onto the islands.

The result

The museum now has a home online that feels as considered as the building it’s creating, with events that are easy to find and book and a look that’s consistent from the website to the noticeboard. [Add a real outcome if you have one, e.g. ticket sales or audience feedback.]

  • Box office listings shown in the museum’s own brand
  • What’s On that updates itself
  • Collections and community projects in one place
  • Posters and banners that match the website
