A clearer path to funding for Scotland’s native woodlands.

Future Woodlands Scotland is a charity working to restore and expand Scotland’s native woodlands. We designed and built a website that makes its grant funding clearer for applicants and stakeholders, and shows the difference that funding makes on a map of Scotland.

The challenge

Funding is how the charity turns its mission into trees in the ground, so the process has to be clear. Applicants and stakeholders needed straightforward access to a lot of complex information, and the team needed it handled securely and tied into the way they already manage their relationships. What we did

Why: We started from the people using the site: applicants looking for the right funding and stakeholders wanting to see where it goes. Everything was designed to get them to the information they need quickly.

How: We designed and developed a bespoke WordPress website built around the grant and funding process. An interactive map shows funded projects across Scotland, and complex datasets are presented clearly so they’re easy to understand at a glance.

When: The site is integrated with the charity’s CRM [name, e.g. Salesforce?], so information flows securely between the website and the team, and they can keep it up to date as new projects are funded.

The result

Applicants and stakeholders now have one clear place to find what they need, and the charity has a site that shows its impact rather than just describing it. [Add a real outcome if you have one, e.g. applications received, projects mapped or time saved for the team.]
